✏️ ✍️ Magic Mannequins✍️✏️

This week in Art we have explored using different grades of pencil.

Following this, we drew a series of different poses using the mannequins.

We also explored using squinting to help us identify the dark/light tones for shading, drawing using a continuous line and using a range of different marks.

We initially felt this was a real challenge but we were so pleased with the outcome.

🧦🧻🦠 Mischievian Madness🦠🧻🧦

This week in Year 3 we were absolutely shocked to find our classrooms left in complete mess and chaos. Take a look at the picture.

After lots of careful investigative work, some new books were delivered to us which helped us to finally solve the mystery.

Whilst reading the book, titled ‘The Mischievians’ we worked out that lots of cheeky, little creatures called Mischievians were the ones responsible for all of the mess.

In our writing we have been working on using conjunctions and prepositions to express time, place and cause.

✍️📨 Persuasive Letters📨✍️

This week in English we have been planning and writing some superb persuasive letters.

After reading Charlotte’s web we were horrified to learn of fate of many farm animals like Wilbur the pig.

We have tried to persuade farmers to think about the choices they are making and impact this has on the environment.

Take a look at some great examples:

➕Amazing Addition➕

This week in maths, Year 3 have blown us away with their superb addition skills.

We have learnt how to add two three-digit numbers including crossing and exchanging a ten AND a hundred.

We are so impressed Year 3!

Amazing! 🌟🌟🌟

🐝 🌸 The Pollination Process 🌸🐝

This week in Science we have learnt all about the pollination process, including how seeds are formed. We have carefully learnt the parts of the flower and discussed how these work.

We can explain the steps of this process with confidence and our teachers are very impressed.

✏️📄 Amazing Instructions📄✏️

This week in English we have been polishing off our instructional language skills and then finally wrote our own set of instructions.

We do hope that you won’t ever need to wash a sabre-toothed cat, but if you do please refer to these fantastically written steps.

📚✏️⭐️Welcome to Year 3! ⭐️✏️📚

It has been so wonderful to see the children settle back into school so well. They have all tried so hard with their learning and have had super ‘can-do’ attitudes.

A highlight of our week has been the science learning we have completed. We have learnt all about the purpose of the different parts of plants and also set up investigations to study water transportation and the requirements to grow a healthy plant.

Take a look at some of our amazing learning:

🏛Amazing Roman Art🏛

This week Year 3 have been developing their sketching skills. They have look closely at the top part of columns called capitals to focus on the design of the finer details. They then worked on drawing the whole column.

We have also created mosaic inspired collages.

We look forward to put all of this learning together to create some amazing front covers to go on our theme books. Next weekend we will be bringing home our theme books to share with you.

🌍Life on Land🌍

This week we have had some very exciting days of learning – Global Learning Day and World Environment Day.

Across the two days we have looked at the sustainable development goal 15 – life on land.

We learnt all about what this targets and used our prior knowledge of deforestation to support our learning. We created some brilliant PowerPoint presentations and shared them with our class.

We have also thought about the UK and what is being done to support our local environment. To support in our locality, we have planted wild flower seeds in different areas of the school grounds.

We can’t wait to see them bloom! 🌸

Take a look at these brilliant collaborative collages we created this afternoon. Our teachers are so proud of us! ⭐️
